Project Details

Studio One Eighty Nine collaborated with 14 Plus Foundation - a New York City based non-profit organization with the aim to develop, build and operate schools and orphanages in rural African communities.

Studio One Eighty Nine designed and produced six styles of school uniform for the Mwabwindo primary school in rural Zambia. We produced the school uniforms in our factory in Accra, Ghana using locally sourced materials, fused with hand-batiked fabric crafted by local artisans. We combined traditional techniques and contemporary designs with the hope to create a unique handmade uniform, created in Africa, which the students would be proud and excited to wear.

We hope that through this collaborative project, we can help create a future generation of leaders, and give these students the opportunity to achieve excellence and reach their full potential.
