Project Details

The Ethical Food Initiative is a United Nations International Trade Centre (ITC) Woman in Trade and Studio One Eighty Nine project.

The project aims to support smallholder farmers in Ghana to improve the livelihoods of those most in need. Ghana is the largest exporter of cocoa in the world after Ivory Coast, yet cocoa farmers in Ghana continue to live in extreme poverty. By selling fresh value added food products such as Yams, we provide additional income for smallholder cocoa farmers, ensuring that they reap a fair return for their labor through sustainable and ethical trading practices, reducing the food and income insecurity of vulnerable communities in their quest to overcome poverty.

The project has already 3,500 farmers participating annually, planting 15,000 seeds and plants, improving 12,000 lives.
