Project Details

We teamed up with the world’s luxury lifestyle online store Yoox Net a Porter, to design and produce an exclusive capsule collection that blends traditional African textiles with contemporary silhouettes. The collection aims to promote African culture and support the development and economic independence of local communities with each purchase creating a job and supporting an education. We worked closely with Ghana-based artisans whose techniques have been passed down for generations. The result is a collection of easy to wear pieces that celebrate African style with an accessible, modern approach. The exclusive Yoox Net a Porter collection features reimagined denim staples and breezy silk shirts and dresses hand-dyed by African artisans.

The handcrafted nature of the collection guarantees that no two pieces are exactly alike, but instead, an individual work of art. Each piece tells a story and reflects the hand of the artisan that produced it.

Studio One Eighty Nine co-founders Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah, together with Yoox Net a Porter, hosted a Pop Up Shop and exclusive dinner at a Los Angeles villa to launch the collection. Among the guests were Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Ratajkowski, Josh Hutcherson and Shaun Ross. The event received media coverage from the likes of Vogue Italia.
